Mersey Gateway Project Deploys RTMS

October 30, 2017 -- Image Sensing Systems, Inc. today announced that their partner, Techmiracle Technologies Ltd. has deployed RTMS Sx-300 radars, Techmiracle Technologies (TT) RIUD and E and an Instation developed with a partner specifically for the project for providing incident detection and data collection for the Mersey Gateway project.

The Mersey Gateway project is a major civil engineering project to build a new six-lane cable toll bridge over the River Mersey, in the vicinity of Liverpool and a 5.7 miles (9.2 km) road network connecting the new bridge to the main highway network in the north of England. The project will provide a much needed new link between the towns of Runcorn and Widnes and will relieve the congested and aging Silver Jubilee Bridge.

The solution that Techmiracle Technologies has deployed for the Mersey project includes fifty-five (55) RTMS G4 Sx-300 radars, TT RIUD and E, Data Collectors and a purpose designed Instation as a complete roadside end to end solution. The Sx-300 radars provide the traffic data, i.e., flow, speed, occupancy, headway and classification. That data is sent via TT RIUE and Data Collectors to detect incidents in real-time. The goal of the system to provide advance warning to motorist that there is an incident ahead and to help smooth traffic and prevent further incidents.

“This has truly been a collaborative development between Techmiracle, blue chip partner TNS, and deploying the world leading RTMS Sx-300 technology to provide full incident detection utilizing the Image Sensing Systems’ Sx-300 radar coupled with the Techmiracle Technologies Interface and back office software / hardware provides a complete turnkey solution,” said Gareth Heywood, Managing Director of Techmiracle Technologies Ltd.

Techmiracle Technologies is working through the Mersey Gateway Consortium and integrating into the Dynniq Imcity Master Control System.

Techmiracle Technologies has field proven hardware and software that works within a larger traffic management system and has received MCH 1529 approval from Highways England for their products including the RTMS radar, and services, allowing them to easily bid and deploy systems throughout the United Kingdom.

The Mersey Gateway project is currently underway and scheduled to open in the autumn of 2017.
