Senior Traffic Engineer

Image Sensing Systems is on a mission to improve the efficiency of our roadways and save the lives of the people that use them.  Our portfolio of products create actionable, accurate data that enable deeper insights and smarter decisions for the planners, engineers, and operators of roadway infrastructure.  While our staff is composed of highly technical industry experts, we are seeking an accomplished traffic engineer to round out our team.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate a practical understanding of technology deployment into the Intelligent Transportation System market.  This understanding will have been gained through years of career progression at local or state agencies deploying a variety of products and services related to signal control, data collection, congestion management, and vulnerable road user safety.  This is a unique opportunity to move from the public sector into a fast-paced, advanced technology setting at an organization posed to solve legacy transportation problems in new, thoughtful, and creative ways. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Actively identify new project, product, or service opportunities that leverage Image Sensing Systems talent and intellectual property.
  • Perform as the transportation end user and use case subject matter expert, guiding requirements and vetting final solutions for proper market fit.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and sales to bring a deeper traffic understanding and validation to new concepts and implementations.
  • Participate in customer exploratory meetings as our traffic subject matter expert.
  • Participate in customer sales calls as requested. 
  • Continuously monitor market trends and identify unmet market needs.
  • Support an energetic and collaborative team culture that drives great results.
  • Conduct and/or oversee traffic data collection, modeling, and analysis in support of driver behavior studies.
  • Present relevant subject matter at industry trade shows.
  • Grow into roles of additional responsibility and influence.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in Traffic Engineering
  • PE or PTOE, preferred
