Operations Manager

Position Purpose:

The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, manufacturing, warehousing, fulfilling, and providing post-sales support of all products sold world-wide.  This role will promote a collaborative environment to ensure effective communication and interaction across sales, product management, engineering, and business services.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through on-time, in full order management.
  • Through continuous improvement, maintain high-level of customer service.
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives that support sales and customer service.
  • Develop and maintain accurate product production forecasts to support sales and customer service.
  • Ensure the availability of product components and labor capacity to manufacture products.
  • Manage and direct activities of product contractor manufactures.
  • Perform product quality reviews and generate production KPIs.
  • Manage and provide timely product warranty services, including RMA issuance and tracking, diagnostics, and reporting.
  • Analyze process workflow, employee and space requirements, equipment layout, and implement changes for insourced operations.
  • Ensure operations are conducted in compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee warehouse efficiency for in sourced operations.
  • Periodically evaluate bill of material component lifecycle status.
  • Develop and maintain accurate product production forecast to support sales and customer service.
  • Maintain product documentation control.
  • Assist in planning and coordination of quarterly business reviews.
  • Prepare operating budgets; schedule expenditures; analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop staff.
  • Periodic travel to contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Education and Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • College graduate BS/BA degree or equivalent technical operations experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years production or plant management experience in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative and flexibility are essential.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in utilizing enterprise resource management software.
  • Experience with ISO9001 and other quality processes.
  • Knowledge of BOM structure and change control process.

Desirable Skills/Attributes:

  • Knowledge of relational database management systems
  • Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) or related fields

Work Location:

Work will be performed remotely during COVID-19 with the possibility of hybrid in-office/remote work post pandemic.  In-office location is St. Paul, Minnesota.

Physical Demands:

Should be able to work comfortably in a typical office environment. Some minor lifting may be required.
