G4™ RTMS® Radars Deployed in Award Winning Freeway Infrastructure Project

(NASDAQ: ISNS), world leading developer of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) computer enabled detection technology, announced today the G4™ RTMS® (Remote Traffic Microwave Sensor) radar’s role in the award winning Milwaukee Interchange freeway infrastructure improvement project.
RTMS radars are used for queue detection, ramp metering and mainline vehicle detection on the Marquette Interchange Project, a large infrastructure improvement project consisting of 21 miles of urban roadways and 28 ramps in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. The traffic data collected by RTMS is also used to provide real-time information to drivers on the extensive travel time system which uses a variable message sign system throughout the Milwaukee area.
WisDOT ITS Operations Manager, Don Schell, stated, “We are pleased with the operation of the G4 RTMS detector. The detectors have fit seamlessly into our existing network and are providing the required traffic data.”
Brian Scharles, Manager of Technical Services at TAPCO, our distribution partner responsible for the installation commented, “The G4 RTMS detectors were extremely easy to deploy and we were able to place the units at locations where other model detectors would not operate.”
The Marquette Interchange project has won numerous awards and honors from industry organizations, including the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials, National Steel Bridge Alliance, and American Council of Engineering Companies.
The G4 RTMS radars are also deployed and in operation on the I-94 and I-43 highways around Milwaukee for use as mainline detectors to provide real-time traffic data for the WisDOT MONITOR system. More than 150 RTMS radars have been deployed on the system since 1993.
