This position is located in our office in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Postion Purpose:

The Senior Machine Vision Engineer will lead and conduct advanced research, and develop next generation Computer Vision technology using cutting edge tools. This position requires exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify, and further assess technologies in the fields of Computer Vision to guide the next generation development of ISS’s Vision products. 

Essential Position Functions:

  • Leading and conducting advanced research for Computer Vision
  • Innovating and developing algorithms and solutions to advance Object tracking and classification
  • Iteratively developing proof-of-concept implementations, prototypes and demos to fine-tune technologies to practical, state-of-the-art systems.
  • Performing experiments and evaluations to quantify and validate improvements made to existing systems.
  • Investigating new cutting edge technologies to keep ISS’s products ahead of the competition.
  • Performing source control, code reviews, and bug tracking.
  • Providing technical expertise and vision in key areas of interest: object detection, tracking and recognition
  • Assuming responsibility for the overall planning, execution, delivery and success of algorithm performance in ISS's products.
  • Working on challenging assignments with tight deadlines
  • Performing other duties as required.
  • Strong critical and creative problem solving skills complimented by excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written required to effectively collaborate with team members, discuss ideas, provide feedback and share knowledge.

Education and Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelors, Master Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of development and prototyping professional experience using real-time computer vision
  • 3+ years of experience working with 2D/3D vision tracking systems
  • Excellent programming skills using Python, C/C++ and Matlab with a solid understanding of software development principles.
  • Strong experience in image processing, feature extraction, feature matching and motion estimation.
  • Exceptional mathematical and problem solving skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills to succeed in an Agile Scrum environment.

Desirable Skills/Attributes:

  • Experience with embedded or FPGA implementation of computer vision and stereo vision algorithms is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to motivate others into action.
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent work ethics and a “can-do” attitude.

Physical Demands:

  • Should be able to work comfortably in a typical office environment.
  • Should be able to travel nationally and internationally. 
  • Some minor lifting may be required.
