This position is located in our office in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Position Purpose:

The QA Manager for Image Sensing Systems will lead a team of QA Engineers in tight collaboration with the development team to deliver high quality products to market. This individual will influence all aspects of the test and quality control process and will be a determining factor in when a product is ready to be released.  This position will be a great opportunity for a progressive and innovative manager or engineer as there are elements of test automation creation, process improvement, and data driven analysis to determine readiness of our machine vision, radar, AI, and software platforms.  This position will expose the candidate to a variety of advanced technologies and is an opportunity to shape testing methods for complex, cutting edge systems.

Essential Position Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement processes, procedures, tools, and controls within the QA department to ensure products and software are properly tested and operate as intended.
  • Lead efforts to enhance the testing process and introduce efficiencies through increased coverage of automated testing.
  • Assess existing test strategies and implement improvements to increase test coverage, efficiency, and value.
  • Hire, train, assign, develop and supervise quality assurance staff.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, training, development, and mentoring to the project resources in the area of quality assurance
  • Work closely with both product management and engineering development teams to ensure full knowledge of intended product function. Design testing that covers all aspects of intended functionality.
  • Collaborate with the engineering managers and product owner as part of an Agile software development process.
  • Participate in product requirement and design reviews.
  • Participate in engineering planning meetings to determine testing schedule and testing resource demands.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership experience in test strategy, planning, coverage, automation, and best practices.
  • Ensure all test collateral is organized and properly maintained within test management software.
  • Maintain and present the progress of testing efforts relative to project schedule expectations to key business stakeholders.

Education and Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of Software Testing/QA Engineer experience.
  • 2+ years of management / leadership experience.
  • Desire to work in a face paced, demanding and highly collaborative environment.
  • Comfortable leading and assigning team activities.
  • Experience with project scheduling and acting as a technical project lead.
  • Ability to acquire proficiency in all of Image Sensing Systems product offerings.
  • Strong communicator across a diverse customer audience, including management, sales, and technical staff.
  • Must be someone with a sense of urgency, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills that drive you to problem solve complex technical issues.
  • Must be organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to recognize potential problems and take proactive measures.

Desirable Skills/Attributes:

  • Experience with TFS as a resource management and test case management tool
  • Experience with git/SVN source management tools
  • Experience with data collection and aggregation methods
  • Experience with database configuration, management, and access
  • Experience with Windows application software development
  • Experience with at least one automated test framework
  • Experience with Machine Vision systems
  • Experience with RADAR systems
  • Experience with resource allocation
  • Experience with python scripting, familiarity with Linux
  • Experience reading C/C++
  • Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) or related fields

Physical Demands:

Requirement to work comfortably in a typical office and/or factory environment.  Some minor lifting may be required.
