This position is located in our office in Bucharest, Romania or the Middle East.

Postion Purpose:

The Sales Engineer (SE) supports sales productivity by securing the “technical close” in complex solutions.

The SE collaborates with sales, customer service, engineering, and technical support resources to ensure proposed sales offers include technical solutions that accurately address customer needs, and are appropriately supported by key customer technical decision-makers.

The SE is responsible for handling all different field activities as well as managing the internal and external resources assigned to work for the assigned projects.  The emphasis will be on the Middle East region, but may support Eastern Europe as well.

The SE is responsible for achieving a profit for all implementation projects and productivity quota made up of the combined expectations of the sales resources, market, and/or channel supported. 

Essential Position Functions:

  • Presales Support
    • Monitors customer support for technical solutions proposed throughout the sales process, and alerts the sales and account teams to potential risks of deal closure.
    • Works on sales opportunities assigned to the sales team supported, prioritizing effort based on maximizing total impact on team productivity and profit, or as directed by the regional director.
    • Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assesses customers met and unmet needs, and recommends solutions that optimize value for both the customer and the firm.
    • Coordinates closely with internal sales and technical service resources to align solution design with customers’ business requirements.
    • Secures from customers’ technical staff commitments needed to ensure a deal’s “technical close.”
    • Opportunistically pursues additional business development opportunities within customer firms. Collaborates with internal sales managers to ensure these opportunities are effectively covered and advanced.
  • Project Support
    • Takes ownership of won sales opportunities and meet assigned targets for profitable projects successful closure in assigned product lines, market areas, channels or team supported.
    • Responsible for all aspects of project management, including closing of open financial items.
    • Responsible for coordination of internal and external resources to successfully close the projects assigned.
  • Post-sales support
    • Provides additional technical support in the operation and maintenance project’s phases. 
    • Provides coaching and professional development to team-member sales associates/accounts in order to enhance their product knowledge, technical acumen, and technical sales skills.
    • Secures input from all necessary solution stakeholders within the customer firm. Adapts solutions, as necessary, to ensure appropriate support.
    • Develops training programs as agreed with the sales manager.
    • Develops technical presentations required for different stages of sales cycles.
    • Provides support to customer support team on analysing all requests for equipment repairs and replacements.
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales growth in assigned product lines, market areas, channel, or teams supported. 

Education and Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • 3+ years of successful experience in a pre-sales, field installation or systems engineering role for multinational company;
  • BSc/M.S./PhD in engineering, physics, computer science or mathematics
  • Experience with CCTV equipment installation, operation and support
  • Field experience is mandatory
  • Knowledge of Hardware and Software Engineering and IT&C System Design
  • Experience with WINDOWS and Linux application software
  • General knowledge of networking, web and SQL databases
  • Deep Comprehension of Technical Documentation (e.g. electrical schematics, technical datasheets, etc.)
  • A proven track record of achievement and technical solution expertise in a comparable role
  • Product certification, engineering credential, or equivalent technical credential
  • Project management certifications
  • PC proficiency
  • Communication skills:
    • Foreign languages – Fluency in in Spoken &/or Written - English(mandatory)
    • Written Communication (Ability to formulate and comprehend memos, letters, emails)
    • Report Writing
    • Public Speaking/Presentation for Training purposes

Desirable Skills/Attributes:

  • Experience with technical solution selling to business and IT leaders;
  • General Knowledge of Web Technologies including cloud systems
  • General knowledge of IOT and big data environment solutions applied to sensors
  • Knowledge on integration of 3rd party equipment using different software and hardware solutions
  • Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) or related fields
  • General knowledge of traffic engineering
  • Experience with basic electronics design principles
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD
  • Fluency in Spoken &/or Written Language other than English – Arabic (Desirable), Polish (Desirable), Russian (Desirable).

  • Ability to handle high number of assigned tasks  with different stakeholders (internal and external)

  • Should be able to travel nationally and internationally at least 50% of his time with a focus on the Middle East.
  • Some minor lifting may be required.
