This position is located in our office in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA.

Postion Purpose:

The Jr. QA Engineer will ensure that high-quality software and hardware is released while achieving established committed delivery dates for ISS products. This person will be responsible for testing, monitoring and advising on performance, during product development and release cycles. Involved in updating test case repository with test results, investigating/troubleshooting problems and opening issue tickets. Involved in the preparation or building of test fixtures, field data collection, installation and maintenance of test equipment to support our detection performance characterization activities

Essential Position Functions:

  • Create and execute regression tests to determine if product functionality meets defined specifications
  • Take ownership of test plans in test repository 
  • Active in researching, tracking, and closing the loop on identified software/hardware issues to meet company goals and objectives
  • Analyze, reproduce, and isolate issues to diagnose root cause and work closely with other engineering teams to resolve escalated issues
  • Maintain and administer QA processes to ensure quality standards are accurate and accessible within the organization

Education and Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent
  • QA or test experience 1+ years
  • Must be effective at managing priorities, tasks, schedules and take pride in testing products
  • Must be someone with a sense of urgency with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills that result in solving complex technical issues
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to read technical documentation (e.g. requirements, technical datasheets)
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must have experience on multiple platforms, both client, and server (Windows, and Linux)
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals

Desirable Skills/Attributes:

  • Experience working with various data communication protocols, including RS232/422, wireless broadband, and TCP/IP a plus
  • Experience working with Wireshark or other network analysis tools
  • Experience working with embedded software Experience with lab equipment such as Oscilloscope, Waveform Generator, and Digital Multi-meter a plus
  • Experience with computer programming/scripting experience – C, C++, MATLAB, Python
  • Application engineering experience a plus
  • Experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems and technologies a plus
  • Experience working with Traffic controller cabinets a plus
  • Experience working with microwave radar and machine vision product a plus

Physical Demands:

Ability to work comfortably in a typical office/lab environment.  Some minor lifting may be required.  Will be required to work outdoor at times.  Field activities include supporting field crew with product installation or troubleshooting activities along high traffic roadways.  Must be able to work at up to 30ft height in bucket trucks or 15-20 ft. height on a ladder.
