This position is located in our office in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Position Purpose:

To assist the embedded team in creating, testing, and maintaining hardware and software designs.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Test, modify, and create hardware and software designs under the supervision of full-time engineers
  • Write test reports and/or presentations on completed work
  • Parse, organize, and analyze data for the team as needed
  • Create scripts or tools for the team to simplify regular tasks
  • Learn new engineering skills through challenging assignments
  • Perform general research for the team as needed
  • Build fixtures or mechanical assemblies for the team as needed

Education and Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • College student pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Ability to take an active role in testing, implementing, and analyzing hardware and software solutions
  • Ability to research and evaluate new technologies
  • Basic proficiency in C and C++ programming
  • Experience with at least one microcontroller project
  • Basic proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meters, power supplies, etc)
  • Ability to read schematics and component datasheets
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience editing a schematic
  • Experience scripting with Python
  • Experience with at least one FPGA project and ability to read VHDL or Verilog
  • Basic understanding of different serial interfaces 
  • Understanding of operating systems concepts
  • Basic understanding of computer networks

Physical Demands:

  • Should be able to work comfortably in a typical office environment.
  • Some minor lifting may be required.
