Senior Algorithm Engineer - Radar
Position Purpose:
To design, write, and support radar-based computer vision algorithms in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Security domains. The Senior Algorithm Engineer has an active role in development and deployment of radar-based algorithms for use in Image Sensing Systems, Inc.’s products. The Senior Algorithm Engineer is involved in the full life cycle of the algorithms, from inception, design, implementation, testing and field deployment, along with supporting existing products and technologies.
Essential Position Functions:
- Algorithm design and simulation in the areas of real time vehicle detection, signal processing, noise removal, object detection/tracking, pattern recognition & data mining techniques.
- Efficient implementation of the algorithms for Windows/DSP-based embedded platforms.
- Verification & characterization of system performance
- Analyze system requirements and software to determine feasibility of design within given constraints.
- Consult with other engineering staff to evaluate interaction between hardware, software, operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
- Swiftly learn, adapt and incorporate new techniques into ISS’s product lines to align with vision of research and development.
- Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of real-time, radar-based product development experience
- Expertise in radar-theory & applications, algorithm development & deployment
- Strong knowledge of Signal/Image processing & Pattern Recognition theory
- Solid experience with C/C++, OOA/OOD, and efficient implementation of algorithms on Windows and other embedded platforms
- Algorithm simulation/prototyping experience with MATLAB or equivalent package
- Experience with source control under Subversion or similar systems
- Knowledge of project management lifecycle
- Strong problem solving abilities
Additional:
- Position requires a self-starter, and the ability to work well both in groups and independently on individual projects.
- Ability to plan own work, provide technical assistance and guidance to team members, and effectively communicate with management in setting timelines and goals.
- Independently evaluate, select, adapt and modifies standard engineering techniques, algorithms, procedures and criteria.
- Ability to perform responsibilities independently, while receiving only general instructions. Solutions are approved by a manager.
Preferences:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related
- Experience with Linux
- Knowledge of TI’s XDIAS codec framework
- Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) or related fields
